Here are a few suggestions. I start by standing outside behind the house and, with a five pound potato sack in each hand, extend my arms straight out to my sides and hold them there as long as I can. After a few weeks I moved up to 10 pound potato sacks, then 20 pound potato sacks and finally I got to where I could lift a 50 pound potato sack in each hand and hold my arms straight out for more than a full minute! line-height: 22px; width: auto;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #38761d;"&gt;Add Celtic music and really green up your workout -- Moynihan's dad, Francis, who is Irish to the core, recommends something by the Dubliners or Horslips.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; width: auto;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #38761d;"&gt;It's a healthy way to balance the day, especially if you know you're going to wind up in a pub, Moynihan says, laughing.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-size: 14px; As you stand up, leap across the box and land with the other foot on top of the box. Reverse the move, and repeat eight to 12 times each side.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; width: auto;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #38761d;"&gt;Beginners don't need to use a weight; they can sit back only until they feel their abdominal muscles engage instead of going into a squat, and can step instead of leap, Moynihan says.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; width: auto;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #38761d;"&gt;If you don't have a stepper, do the exercise on the floor or put a non-breakable item on the floor to leap over.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; width: auto;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #38761d;"&gt;It's a great exercise for strengthening legs and core muscles, building athletic power through explosive movement, and improving balance.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; width: auto;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #38761d;"&gt;Irish Jig&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; width: auto;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #38761d;"&gt;Stand behind a Bosu, or half ball. Start by standing with your back to the Bosu ball. (Our dog loves it, too!)&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Without having to run, I am able to get a great aerobic workout which is also low impact. It could have been so easy to just stay inside and read by the fire. What a trooper!! We often take our son’s dog with us, as well. It tones your entire body while providing an excellent cardiovascular workout; it strengthens leg and heart&amp;nbsp;muscles and improves delivery of oxygen to muscles. It is also a low impact activity which is great for our knees, hips and ankles. We also use Nordic Walking Poles which help with balance and safety and also provide an excellent upper body work out. (More on the poles in a later post.)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/h3&gt;&lt;h3 style="font-family: Georgia, Verdana, Arial, serif; font-size: 1.4em; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 1em; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: black;"&gt;We snowshoed for approximately an hour and fifteen minutes. My husband thought it was more like an hour and a half.
